Like many people, I seem to be on a constant quest to declutter our home. I love the idea that someone else might get some use from something I no longer need and frequently donate via our local charity shops, but what do you do with the items they won’t take like towels, small electrical items, CDs and hand tools?
I hate the idea of waste, and this means that I often hang on to things I no longer want because I can’t bring myself to put them in the bin. The ‘Don’t Dump It’ groups on Facebook are great but co-ordinating pick-ups can be labour intensive and sometimes just the thought of it makes me shove things back into an overstuffed cupboard.

When I heard about Anglo Doorstop Collections, a UK based company that collects charity donations of unwanted clothing and small household items, direct from your home for free, on a decluttering podcast, I had to give it a go.
The process
Booking a collection took about two minutes and half that time was me debating which of the charities I wanted the items to support. I received a confirmation right away and then the day before the pick-up, received a link showing the 2-hour window in which my donations would be collected. So long as you label your items, you don’t even need to be in.
The result
We’re another step closer to the calm, decluttered home of my daydreams, and I know that my rehomed items will be put to good use. It’s a win-win.
